What Have I Learned
Through this project I have learned many interesting facts about reckless driving. One fact that I already knew about reckless driving is that it is the #1 killer of teens today. Some other interesting facts that I did not know is that males are more likely to get in a car accident than females. It is very sad that in 2010, seven teens between the ages of 16 and 19 died every day. Also drivers between the age of 16 to 19 are 3x more likely to get in a fatal crash versus drivers that are 20 and older. Something that I also found interesting, that relates to males being more likely to get in an accident than females, is that 30% ($19 billion) of the total cost of motor vehicle injuries are among males. 28% ($7 billion) of the total costs is among females. When teen drivers get the freedom of driving without their parents and can ride with one other passenger, research shows that they are at a higher risk of being in an accident. Lastly, newly licensed teens, typically are in risk of a car crash during the first months of licensure.
