The Black Plague
There were many different stigmas and outrageous beliefs that individuals had when it came to the bubonic plague. For example, men use to whip themselves, because they believed that the plague was a punishment from God. They were forbidden from bathing, eating fat or poultry and taking part in any type of exercise. Men use to put plucked chickens under their arms, because they believed that the chickens body would draw out all of the poison in them. Church bells and people use to make a lot of noise, also canons use to fire to clean the air. They also use to kill all of the dogs and cats in the town, because they thought they were spreading the disease.
