What Did I Learn
While working on my epidemic smallpox, I learned that it was a very serious illness caused by the virus variola. I learned that people sometimes relate smallpox to chickenpox, but there not related. Chickenpox is a milder disease caused by a different virus. There are currently no cases of smallpox in the U.S. The last case in the U.S. was in the year 1949 and the last case in the world was in 1977. I also learned that Smallpox is contagious and it spreads through saliva of and infected person when they cough, talk or sneeze.
